How would you like to learn?
Pick your timer, then choose a quick start, the interactive model, or a how-to video. Not sure which timer you have? The Speed-Timer is for shooting; the Sport-Timer is for race and event timing.
For shooters — arm a start, fire a string, review every split.
For race, agility and events — live clock, IR beams, scoreboard.
Learn the timer by using it
A true-to-life working model — LCD on top, keypad on the side. Arm a start, fire a string, review your shots, and explore the setup menu.
↑ This is the live app embedded in the page — try holding START/RESET, then Fire a shot.
Speed-Timer quick start
From box to first string in five steps.Install a fresh 9 V alkaline battery in the back compartment.
Hold START/RESET. After ~2 s "dEL" shows (random delay). Hold longer for "0 SEC" (instant). Release to start.
Wait for the beep, then shoot. Each shot updates SHOT count and the TIME of the latest shot.
Read SHOT / SPLIT / TIME. Tap START/RESET to step through each shot; ▲/▼ recall previous strings.
From review, press MODE to power down. Times stay in memory — even through a battery change.
The setup menu
Hold MODE ~2 s from off, release to enter. MODE cycles the sections.- Shows r0F bottom-left, minutes top-right (default 10.00, max 10.00).
- ▲/▼ adjust by 1.00, down to a 1.00 minimum.
- START/RESET runs the shutdown countdown; the unit powers off at zero.
- MODE moves on to PAR.
- Shows P bottom-left, oFF top-right.
- ▲ sets 0.1 then climbs by 0.1 (hold to accelerate, up to 600.0); ▼ comes back down.
- A set PAR sounds the buzzer at that time and shows a small "P" on the readout.
- MODE moves on to Pot; START/RESET powers off.
- Threshold top-left (default 32, range 0–63), set with ▲/▼.
- The right-hand number counts shots the mic hears — fire test shots to check it.
- Raise it for noisy indoor ranges, lower it outdoors.
- MODE moves on to bAt; START/RESET powers off.
- Shows bAt bottom-left, 9 V battery voltage top-right (e.g. 8.43).
- Fresh alkaline reads ~9.5 V; replace it as it nears 7 V.
- MODE or START/RESET powers the unit off.
IR beam setup & alignment
For Sport-Timer events — hands-free start/stop.- Mount transmitter and receiver on tripods (¼"-20 mounts) facing each other, 3–100 ft apart.
- Power both on and aim the receiver at the transmitter — the LED flashes while searching.
- Sweep the receiver up/down then left/right; settle it where the LED goes solid (locked on).
- Set the beam to start, stop, or both on the Sport-Timer, and add more beams for splits.
- Break the beam once to confirm it triggers the clock.
Learn the Sport-Timer by using it
A true-to-life working model of the controller, IR-beam set and scoreboard. Run the clock, open the 14-option setup menu, arm one or two beams and send a runner through the gate.
↑ The live app, embedded in the page — press START/RESET to run the clock, then arm a beam and trip the gate.
Sport-Timer quick start
From box to first event in five steps.Install a fresh 9 V alkaline in the back compartment.
Press and release START/RESET — the clock shows 0.000, ready to run.
Press START/RESET again to start. The clock runs live — up from zero, or down from a time set in cLoc.
Press START/RESET to stop and record the event; press once more to start a fresh one (it re-zeros to 0.000).
When stopped, ▲/▼ scroll the last 100 events. Hold MODE ~2 s to switch off — stored events then clear.
The setup menu
Hold MODE ~2 s from off to enter. ▲/▼ cycle the 14 options; START/RESET edits, MODE saves.- Big number = the clock’s start value; ▲/▼ change it by 1 s (hold to accelerate).
- Hours appear top-left at 1 h and up; maximum 10 h.
- 0 = count up (stopwatch). Any value = count down from it.
- Top-left toggles “no rES” ↔ “rES” with ▲/▼.
- no rES: the clock must reach 0 before it can reset.
- rES: START/RESET resets immediately.
- Bottom-left cycles the beep pattern with ▲ (▼ reverses).
- --- none · --S end beep · S-- start beep · S-S both.
- Toggle FSt ↔ SLo with ▲/▼.
- SLo resolves to 1/1000 s; FSt to the whole second.
- Toggle oFF ↔ on. On loops work (cLoc) and rest (ScLc).
- Turning it on counts down from cLoc (defaults to 10 s if cLoc was 0).
- During a circuit, TIME shows whole seconds and SPLIT shows the milliseconds.
- First ▲ sets 2 laps, then 3… — single press only, no acceleration.
- Maximum 101 laps. Turning LAP on switches SPLi off.
- Like LAP but marked “S” top-left; single press, max 101.
- Turning SPLi on switches LAP off.
- ▲ +1 s, ▼ −1 s (hold to accelerate); maximum 10 h.
- Sets the rest duration used by circ.
- Seconds of solid, unbroken beam the start gate must see before the next break counts.
- ▲/▼ set 1–400 (press or hold). Factory 1.
- Same as Strt, for the stop gate.
- ▲/▼ set 1–400 (press or hold). Factory 2.
- Toggle on ↔ oFF with ▲/▼.
- Sets the format the timer relays over RF to the Base Station (USB PC relay). Factory on.
- Read-only 9 V voltage (e.g. 8.47).
- Fresh alkaline ≈ 9.5 V; replace near 7 V. ▲/▼ do nothing here.
- START/RESET toggles no ↔ YES.
- YES restores every setting to factory defaults.
- Bench reception test — disabled on this unit.
IR-beam set & alignment
One transmitter, one receiver — hands-free start and stop.- Mount the yellow transmitter and charcoal receiver on tripods facing each other, up to 100 ft apart.
- Power both on. The receiver’s red LED flashes while searching and goes solid when aligned — fine-tune to the midpoint between the flash points.
- A beam trip acts as a START/RESET press. One beam: break it once to start, again to stop. Two beams: either gate can start or stop.
- Each gate has its own dead-time (Strt / StoP) — the seconds of solid beam it must see before it accepts the next break.
- IR is invisible and works in daylight, but don’t aim the receiver into direct sun. A small red LED on the transmitter blinks when its battery runs low.
Wireless scoreboard
Mirror the controller time on a 4- or 6-digit display.- Set the display to the same ID as the controller (each shows its ID briefly at power-on). The controller’s time is always the Official Time.
- Side switch up = On, down = Off. Runs on a 9 V battery or the 9 V / 110 V adapter.
- Low battery scrolls “battery lo”, then the display blanks but keeps tracking internally.
